Hello my beautiful people! Wow it has been a VERY long time since I have last wrote on this blog. I apologize! The weather here definitely had something to do with it. It snowed and snowed snowed, it was cold, and well, I was motivated to do absolutely NOTHING.
But as promised, I do have my swatches for my drugstore lippys and I am quite surprised (and happy!) how they turned out. They were all very good buys!

My everyday makeup
My everyday makeup routine includes mostly all drugstore items, with the exception of Benefit's Porefessional Pro Balm and "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer and my Estée Lauder's Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara.
My eye shadow pallet and eye primer are both from ELF Cosmetics and I have to say they work pretty well. I have seen YouTube videos of people reviewing ELF's eye primer and they say it works just as well as Urban Decay's eye primer. The eye shadow pallet is pretty simple. It contains all neutral colors ranging from light ivory, champagne, and golds, to dark browns, grays, and black. There is a mix of both matte and shimmer colors in this pallet, but I always tend to gravitate towards the shimmery colors.
The liquid liner (under the Benefit Primer's) is a new purchase and I must say I am VERY pleased with it. It is L'Oreal's Super Slim Liquid Liner. I had been looking for a new liquid liner for a while now, but they always came up short. They did not deliver enough color or they dried out too fast (I like my eyeliner very dark.) The other week I was at Target with a friend and I came across it and decided I would give it try. Well, I'm happy I did! This liner is dark, glides on smoothly, and there is excellent color payoff. I can have it sitting sideways in my make up drawer and it doesn't dry out like the others had.
The Blush is from Hard Candy in the color Pin Up. I haven't used this blush in quite a while so I decided I would start using it again and the color looks perfect with my new make up routine. I was using mineral power from Physician's Formula before I started wearing liquid foundation, and I found that my blushes would not show up very well when I used powder. Once I used liquid foundation there was an immediate difference. They were definitely more pigmented.
Last, but not least, we have my foundation and finishing powder from Revlon. The foundation is Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin in the color 200 Nude. I find that this duo works very well with my oily skin and it stays in place until I take it off with make up remover. However, I do want to try something that is higher end. If you guys have any high end products that you have found to be a great buy, please let me know!

What I'm wearing: #ootd
So here in Pennsylvania the weather has been pretty bipolar. It has been snowing on and off since Christmas and quite frankly, I am tired of the snow. I hate the cold. I was supposed to start school this week but because mother nature is being, to lack a better word, a bitch, school was canceled. I had my back to school outfit all planned out yesterday too. Don't you just hate that? I was all dressed up with no where to go! (well, besides work, of course.)
But anywhoozle, I might as well get to good part now, right? *enter picture of outfit!* (Okay okay, so it's only part of it. Kind of.)
Well I should start off with my denim shirt. Kind of a funny story about that. It's from my work. Now this is for all the nineties kids out there. Who remembers the Limited Too? It was only the coolest, hippest store for girls! Well anyways, that's where I work. I mean, it's not called the Limited Too anymore, it's called Justice.
I never actually thought I would work at the store that I always envied clothing from as a child. Let's be real, Limited Too was expensive. $45 for a pair of jeans? That you're gonna outgrow in a year? Yeah, no. I don't think so. My parents wouldn't drop that much money on a single pair of pants, and I don't blame them! (And yeah, the prices are still the same, too.)
But back to the shirt now. This past weekend we had a "flash sale" where everything in the store is 40 percent off and then an additional 20 percent off. Any clearance, or "redlined" items got the 40 and 20 PLUS an extra 50 percent off. After it was all said and done I got a $42.90 shirt for only $10 and some cents. That's right, ten buckaroos!
If there's something you need to know about me, it's that I LOVE a good bargain. I mean, who doesn't?! It's the best feeling, really. I think that's what I like the most about fashion. Trying to find the best deal or bargain on something. It's what makes it fun and exciting!
(Can we just take a second and admire my perfect winged eyeliner?)
Now moving along, the earrings I'm wearing are from I-am, which I talked about in my previous post so I won't be talking about them that much. Another bargain buy, $1.99! Blam, done.
Next!
For my hair I decided to go with a messy-ish sock bun and I put two silver rose clips on the side. The clips were purchased from H&M and I believe they were only a few dollars. I thought it looked cute and it kind of went with the gems that are on the collar of my shirt.
The pants I'm wearing are actually high waisted. They're Bullhead Denim from Pacsun. I've been loving high waisted jeans and burgundy/maroon anything lately! The boots are from Rack Room Shoes. They were actually my sister's, but I kept "borrowing" them that she just eventually got fed up and just gave them to me. Isn't she so nice?

My new obsession
So the other week I went to the mall and I noticed a cute little boutique shop called i-am that sold jewelry, accessories, etc. The thing that drew me in the most was the GIANT $1.99 sale signs. I thought, jewelry for $1.99? HELL YEAH! So I went in and I found a couple pairs of earrings and then I came across this pair. I knew as soon as I saw them that they had to be mine. Of course these ones weren't on sale (they were $7.99 and well worth with) so I bought them anyways. I came out of there spending $16, which I think is pretty damn good for 5 pieces of jewelry!

My first post
So.
This is my very first blog. I never really thought of blogging as something that I would actually be interested in doing, but here I am... making a blog and stuff...
Well, anyways, I'm not very good at writing, but I guess I should start off by introducing myself and what this blog is gonna be all about.
As you can tell from the title of my blog, my name is Mel. Melissa Grande. I'm a college student (I don't even know if I should count myself as one because I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up) and I have decided that I'm going to use this as an outlet to show off my everyday style. I will post pictures (hopefully daily, or AT LEAST weekly) of me, of course, my outfits, make up, pretty much anything girly. But mostly fashion related things.
I love fashion and how it can be used to express yourself. It is an art form and our body is a blank canvas waiting to be drawn on. That's what I love about it. You can be whatever, or whoever you want. I have no certain style that I like myself. I love everything. My style is all over the place. It can be set off by hearing a certain song as I'm taking shower in morning, or by watching a video on YouTube. One day I can be a 90's punk princess, and the next I could pass as one of the Housewives of "Enter Favorite City/State You Like The Best, Here".
Well, I think this was an okay first post? I don't know if I will be doing a lot of writing on this blog, but I we shall see what happens!
